RICHARD'S CHRISTMAS WALKS FOR 2014
The Dickens Christmas Walk for 2014 have now gone live. This year Richard is offering a new walk that follows in the footsteps of Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. To get well and truly into the festive spirit Richard will don Victorian costume to lead the Dickens Christmas Walk.

NEW STATUE UNVEILED IN PORTSMOUTH
A new statue of Charles Dickens was unveiled in Portsmouth, the place of his birth, on 7th February 2014 to coincide with what would have been his 202nd birthday.
Quite what Dickens would have made of this "tribute" is uncertain since he specifically stated in his plans for his funeral "I conjure to my friends on no account to make me the subject of any monument, memorial or testimonial whatsoever. I rest my claims to the remembrance of my country upon my published works."
Still, more than 40 of his descendants arrived in Portsmouth's Guildhall Square to witness the unveiling of the new bronze statue, which was created by Oxford shire sculptor Martin Jennings and which depicts a seated Dickens surrounded by books. Read More
CHARLES DICKENS BIRTHDAY WALK 7TH FEBRUARY 2014
On Friday 7th February 2014 Richard will be conducting a special walk to celebrate the 202nd birthday of Charles Dickens.
Exploring the streets that Dickens knew well the tour will uncover hidden gems that featured in Pickwick Papers, Martin Chuzzlewit, Pickwick Papers and a host of other Dickensian classics. Read More
RICHARD'S 2014 CHRISTMAS DICKENS WALKS
For Christmas 2014 Richard will be conducting a special series of themed walks that look at Dickens London at Christmas. These walks will take in locations from his Christmas books such as A Christmas Carol and The Chimes and will look at Dickens influence on the festive season.

IAN KEABLE'S THE SECRET WORLD OF CHARLES DICKENS
One of the lesser known facts about Charles Dickens is that he was an enthusiastic and very able magician.
Each Christmas he would entertain his children and house guests alike with his one man magic show, in the course of which all manner of strangely magical things would occur.
Dickens was also fascinated by ghosts - he did, after all, write the best known ghost story of all time A Christmas Carol.
But what would it have been like to have witnessed Charles Dickens perform magic?
Well, now you can see for yourself, because Ian Keable, a first rate magician and Member of the prestigious Magic Circle, will be performing his acclaimed The Secret World of Charles Dickens: mirth, marvels and the mysterious, on various dates throughout 2013.
The 90 minute show, which first premiered at the famous Charles Dickens Museum in London, promises an evening that will be both humorous and mystifying as Ian reveals a lesser known side of Dickens and "...recreates his favourite tricks and the spooky practises of the Victorian psychics..." In short it's a fun and fascinating evening.
